Chapter 11 - Years 1964-68 part 1/3

Time for further education

As the municipality of Siuntio was poor, the second year of the civic school, the grade 8th, was shortened to the end of March. I started working at the LSO Meat shop in Lohja as a sales trainee. All kinds of food were sold in the store. During the winter, I went to work with my older siblings in a car driven by father.

They too had similar sales jobs in Lohja. Father had researched my postgraduate education opportunities and found in the newspaper an announcement of Oy Strömberg Ab, located in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki. They were applying students to machine workshop school, operating for 4 year as a boarding school. With the help of father, I applied for admission to the exams.

Since my graduation certificate from the civic school was an average of 9, I was invited to the entrance examinations in the summer of 1964. There was a content literacy test, which I did well. There were two math tests. The first math exercises I calculated correctly.

The second math test was extremely difficult, including maths that I had not been taught at school. I was sure that if I didn't get at least 7 out of 10 assignments correctly, I wouldn't get to school. I had already cleared 5 of them, but I didn't even understand what was asked in the next two!

I prayed with all my heart wisdom from above. After that, when I read the 2 questions again, I realized what in they were asked for and how the math assignments would be calculate. I got both of them right. I couldn't even count the last 3 as time ran out.

For the guidance of young people and all others who lack wisdom: Do not despair, but ask for it from above as taught in the Bible! Jacob 1: 5

>>But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of Elohim, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.<<

In addition, the entrance tests included a copper wire bending test and a steel plate sawing test, which I also did well. About a week later, I received a letter from the school's office telling me that I had been selected to school.
It felt like the sky was ripping and the earth was bursting with joy! I was very grateful for Yehowah who had helped me especially in the math tests! HalleluYah!

It was reported that there were about 400 applications to the school that summer, of which only a fraction had been invited to the entrance examinations, and that only 30 had finally been accepted into the school. There were only a few 15-year-old students in my class.

Moving to Helsinki

My dad drove me in his car to the school with full board and lodging, in early September. The new 30 students were divided into groups of four. We were placed in furnished rooms, 4 boys per room. There was severe discipline at school, which I thought was just a good thing. The discipline was much tougher than in the army I later executed.

Night guests were not allowed at school at all, alcohol and smoking and gambling were prohibited. My friends were Tenho Mehtonen from Polvijärvi, Jarmo Palmu from Leppävirta and Osmo Mäkelä from Karelia, but I no longer remember which Karelia municipality Osmo came from. Osmo was the best in our class every year. They were each one or more years older than me.

I missed back home

I was still so young and adolescent and the theory periods were too demanding for my intelligence. Because of this, I had to study and pray more diligently. I had been very hard working already at the folk and civic school, but now was a real difficult situation. I also had a terrible homesickness.

I started to plan for the suspension. While visiting one weekend at home in Siuntio, I said to dad that the school level is too hard for me and I have, therefore, been considering the suspension. Father thought for a moment and gave a wise answer:

"Listen Leif, try study only this first year, then we'll talk of the sequel." That advice was more valuable than gold, because I was thinking that I should be in such a school for four long years. Only one year would be much easier!

I soon adjusted to school

My roommates were all smart, real gentlemen, and we studied hard together and did some of the same hobbies. Pretty soon I adjusted to the rhythm of school, got enough wisdom in prayer, and started to get along. I also started to increase in length up to 185 cm.

In the first year we did a tool kit at the school's own workshop. We study theory every year for about 8 weeks in the fall and 8 weeks in the spring. We got a summer vacation for 2 months, so we could each go to live and work elsewhere. The school dormitory was closed at that time.

We four students lived in the same small room at Oy Strömberg Ab boarding school. From left: Tenho Mehtonen, myself, Osmo Mäkelä and Jarmo Palmu in 1964-68. Admittedly, the last two lived occasionally in Vaasa, as they were transferred to the electrician line in 1965, the other two studied on the metal line.

Choice of students for a metal or electrician line

After the first year, we were assigned either to metal line or to the electrician line based on certain criteria. I would have wanted get in the line of electrician, and the interim certificate I received would have been in favour of it. I didn't get enough recommendations from the teachers and so I was moved to the metal line.

Later I realized it was Yehowah's will. Later stages in my life confirm it. At the time, I did not know what the future would bring me.
It brought me great difficulties and deep distress, but also glad surprises and the moments of unforgettable joy and happiness! Quality of life just gets better with age! So the Bible teaches, Prov. 4:18

>>But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light, That shines more and more until the perfect day.<<

Prophetic Dream in Siuntio 1965

I spent the summer after my first school year relaxing in Siuntio. I fished fishes and crabs. Selling crabs and fish gave me good earnings. I also helped with homework. I worked part time as a salesman in Lohja. One night I saw a miraculous prophecy in a dream.

It touched deep in my heart and it was a prophecy of my future. I did not understand its message fully, but only partially. I realized that I was in the hands of my Creator and that he was going to steer my life in the right direction. The dream was this:

I was sitting, as usually at the kitchen table, drinking morning coffee. I was alone in the kitchen, looking out the window, admiring the magnificent scenery. I wondered how the trees on the other side of the Kirkkojoki river can have so perfect shape and how they can be so stunning? They were fabulously beautiful and perfect in their color shine.

The Kirkkojoki river (church river) was also magnificent and the extensive fields adjacent to it were bright green.
An alley shaded by large oaks continued straight across fields through next to the medieval Suitia's Knight Castle, continuing through the forest and eventually disappearing far into the horizon.

The Holy Spirit, baptism by immersion in water
and the baptism in the Holy Spirit

I saw in the dream as a document film the Holy Spirit, the baptism of believers, and the baptism in the Holy Spirit when I was 16 years old. At that time I lived in a small village in Siuntio and spent my summer vacation there, after the first year of studying at Oy Strömberg Ab engineering works school in 1965.

The village was originally named Sjundeå by Swedish immigrants, and translated as "The Seventh River".
The pictures below do not show the medieval Svidja Castle, the Suitia Knight Castle. When you look at the cartoon below, it is located in nature under the sun and little to the left. It was home to Klaus Eriksson Fleming, who was commander-in-chief of the Finnish Armed Forces in 1591-97. The whole Finland was then a part of Sweden up to 1809.

A magnificent alley with old oaks on the both side was about 1 km long, located under the sun, was later cut off and a new road built to follow a different route than before. It crosses the bright green field to the right of the alley, continuing towards Lohja Station.

At a young age, I went to the office of Suitia Castle to buy milk tickets to get milk from the barn with a 5-liter jug. As young I also walked there in the winter with the moon and stars shining down that magnificently in January. There were no streetlights at the time. We did those milk-picking trips each in turn, once a week with my older siblings.

The castle, its extensive arable land and forests were then governed by the War Brotherhood of the Disabled. The large manor house was surrounded by a large number of scattered dwellings, a large barn and lots of dairy cattle. There were also workshops there. The fields were rich in grain during the summer, as the soil is very nutritious. Maize has also been grown on these fields in some years.

Yehowah Elohim showed me in a dream how wonderful a process is to be born again from above, and I was able to experience it practically 7 years later at the age of 23 in Helsinki, when exactly 10 years had passed since that dream.

The pictures I drew are incomplete and do not do justice to the splendour of colours in a dream where the trees were perfect in their shape and colour and the wonderful heavenly music was played in the background without ceasing. The tree branches, as dancing, swayed in the rhythm the music.

Here is cartoon of that dream, which was like a documentary film in colour:

Picture 1: Beautiful summer view. A small Kirkkojoki river flows past the church. A small dark cloud is rapidly approaching above the alley surrounded of old oaks.

Picture 2: Suddenly it grows so big that the sun and sunshine are covered fully. The cloud is like a darkening smoke cloud.

Picture 3: Soon the cloud covers the sky and stream becomes a Crystal River. Suddenly a thick and bright arc or lightning strikes from the stream up to the cloud.

Picture 4: Down of that thick arc is the water spoiling and the arc sucks the power, which lifts up, circulating round the arc. Cloud comes smaller and blue.

Picture 5: This is a long process and I'm watching and wondering it. The heavenly forces are in operation in front of me.

Picture 6: After long time the cloud comes smaller and darker on the arc's top and start to move so as there were some living creature inside it !

Picture 7: The dark cloud explodes in the end and its black fragments drops down. Then a white Dove, which radiate light, appears into sight.

Picture 8: Adonai's huge hand reaches down from heaven and move me carefully into the river in which every drops glitters the life eternal.

Picture 9: I'm standing in Adonai's hand admiring the fine white Dove. He shines like from fire. The Dove of The Holy Spirit, flies and descends down.

Picture 10: I'm standing safety in Adonai's hand while my body is in water upp to my arms. The Dove of the Holy Spirit flies close and right next to me.

Picture 11: The Dove comes in Crystal River just in front of me and start to swim as duck or other water birds. Beautiful and amazing !

Picture 12: I'm admiring the Dove. Then I see there many other the Holy Spirit's white Doves in the river, apparently for every Elohim's chosen people like me.

Picture 13: I see how pich black hands are lurking for the Dove behind Him. I pray saying: "Dear Yeshua, don't leave the Dove to his prey."

Picture 14: Adonai answers: "Don't be afraid, but take notice of all what you see." - The devil snatches quickly the Dove for a while.

Picture 15: The Dove gets his head out from devil's hands and shakes with force himself free and kicks him so, that the hands flies like a dirt long away from Him.

Picture 16: Then everything disappears, except the Holy Spirit's white Dove, which shines his light into darkness. The devil still tries to get him to his slave.

Two of my homes in Siuntio.
